Katmar Software, company that publishes engineering and project management-related software applications, built a lot of unit conversion functionality into the Uconeer application. Purpose-built to be used by engineers, Uconeer comes with more than 450 conversion units grouped into 48 categories. If these are not enough, you can always add your own.

To get Uconeer up and running on your Windows-powered machine, you must first download a 1.8MB archive. Extract and run the Uconeer_Setup executable and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. A few clicks later you’ll be done with the whole thing and you can start using the application.

With all its numerous buttons and dropdown menus, the Uconeer interface can seem intimidating at first. The simple truth of the matter is that it isn’t that hard to get used to. You’re well advised to check the Pictorial Summary in the Help menu to find out what each button or each section does.

You can use Uconeer to convert feet to meters, pounds to kilos, Kelvin to Celsius, cubic meters to pints, and much more. As mentioned above, Uconeer features more than 450 conversion units. Also as mentioned above, this application was specifically created for engineers. Among the many conversion units Uconeer supports, you won’t find archaic and esoteric units that engineers never use. To the existing list you can add your own custom units; out of all the units, the ones you use most often can be marked as favorites.

Please note that Uconeer is only free to try. You can use the application for free for an evaluation period of 30 days.

Purpose-built for engineers, Uconeer can prove to be a very useful unit conversion calculator.

Pros

Uconeer works on even the most basic hardware configurations. The Help file clearly presents the interface and all the functionality Uconeer has to offer. Convert 450 units in 48 categories, favorite frequently used conversions, add custom units.

Cons

Free to use for a 30-day trial; nag screen.
